Desert and Delta
THE SPIRIT OF BOTSWANA
Desert and Delta Photo Safari
Welcome to our Rhulani Desert and Delta Photo Safari Tour. Experience the raw contrasts of Botswana on the Desert and Delta Photo Safari, an exclusive photographic orientated, mobile-safari expedition blending the wildlife-rich waterways of Moremi with the vast, otherworldly expanses of Nxai Pan National Park. From big cats and elephants to desert-adapted creatures and night skies ablaze with stars, this journey offers unmatched photographic variety and intimate wilderness immersion.
Desert and Delta Tour Overview
The Desert and Delta Photo Safari is an 11-night photographic adventure designed for photographers, wildlife lovers, and travellers seeking authentic immersion in Botswana’s most iconic ecosystems. As the destinations are far apart, we have designed this tour to give you the best possible photographic and comfortable experience. We therefore have split the tour in half, opening 4 nights in Nxai Pans National Park, 1 night in Maun and finishing with 4 nights in Moremi Game Reserve. There will be a night before and after the safari in Maun where the group will meet and depart together.
Over the course of 4 nights in Moremi Game Reserve and 4 nights in Nxai Pan National Park, you’ll explore two vastly different habitats – from the lush floodplains of the Okavango Delta to the open, shimmering salt pans of the Kalahari Desert.
Led by professional wildlife photographers, this safari provides personalised guidance, incredible photographic opportunities, and exclusive access to remote wilderness areas. You’ll stay in a comfortable mobile tented camp with an ensuite canvas tent (each tent has its own pit toilet and bucket shower), spacious rooms, and warm campfire evenings under the African sky.
Safari Regions
Moremi Game Reserve – The Delta’s Wildlife Heart (4 Nights)
Moremi is one of Africa’s most celebrated photographic destinations—an oasis of life where river channels weave between islands, forests, open plains, and ancient floodplains.
What to Expect in Moremi
-
Exceptional waterlogged sights, typical of the Okavango Delta.
-
Dramatic wildlife encounters.
-
Birdlife-rich wetlands with herons, kingfishers, fish eagles, and seasonal migrants.
-
Morning and afternoon photo safaris in prime big-cat territory.
-
Creative opportunities with reflections, backlighting, and low-angle water scenes.
Moremi’s abundance of predators and varied landscapes create perfect conditions for dynamic wildlife photography, from tight portraits to wide-angle storytelling.
Nxai Pan National Park – The Desert Landscape of Endless Horizons (4 Nights)
A world apart from the Delta, Nxai Pan is defined by its open grasslands, sweeping salt pans, and dramatic skies. Home to desert specialists and famous for its seasonal migrations, it offers powerful, minimalist photographic opportunities.
What to Expect in Nxai Pan
-
The striking Kalahari landscape typical with iconic subjects for sunrise and sunset shoots.
-
Rare desert predators including bat eared foxes.
-
Massive elephant bulls drawn to the permanent waterholes – spectacular sunset photography.
-
Stargazing and long-exposure astrophotography (done in camp).
-
Open horizons perfect for silhouettes and dramatic compositions
Nxai Pan’s stark beauty and unique wildlife behaviour make it one of Botswana’s most rewarding photographic destinations.
