Rhulani Photo and Film was born from a dream.

In 2017, what began as two friends sitting around a campfire beneath an African sky evolved into something far greater – a vision to share the beauty, wonder, and untamed spirit of Africa with the world. United by a passion for wildlife, photography, filmmaking, and adventure, we set out to create experiences that go beyond traditional safaris.

Today, Rhulani Photo and Film welcomes travellers, photographers, filmmakers, and nature lovers from around the globe to explore some of Africa’s most spectacular wilderness areas. From the predator-rich plains of the Greater Kruger to the waterways of the Okavango Delta, the remote deserts of the Kalahari, and beyond, our journeys are carefully designed to immerse guests in the very heart of the wild.

Our Vision

We believe that meaningful conservation begins with connection.

When people experience the wonder of a leopard emerging from the darkness, witness a herd of elephants crossing a floodplain, or spend a night beneath a sky untouched by city lights, something remarkable happens. They form a bond with nature and that connection inspires a desire to protect what remains.

Africa’s wilderness faces increasing challenges from habitat loss, human expansion, climate change, and wildlife crime. Through our safaris, films, books, photography, and storytelling, we aim to create ambassadors for conservation – people who leave Africa not only with extraordinary photographs, but with a deeper understanding of its importance.

Storytelling Beyond the Safari

Photography and filmmaking have always been at the heart of Rhulani Photo and Film.

Through our production division, we undertake short and long-term projects that celebrate Africa’s beauty, explore its challenges, and preserve its stories for future generations.

PHOTO SAFARI – KRUGER

In partnership with Elephant Plains Game Lodge and HPH Publishing, Rhulani Photo and Film Productions spent more than two years documenting one of Africa’s greatest wildlife destinations – the Greater Kruger ecosystem.

The result was PHOTO SAFARI – KRUGER, a premium coffee-table book showcasing the region’s extraordinary wildlife, landscapes, and conservation challenges. Released in 2021, the publication became a South African best-seller and sold out within two years, receiving recognition from both readers and industry publications.

EDEN – SOUL OF AFRICA

In 2022, photographer and filmmaker Armand Grobler embarked on an ambitious three-year expedition through Botswana’s wilderness.

Living for extended periods in a remote canvas tent, he documented the Okavango Delta, Greater Kalahari, and Tuli regions in search of a deeper story – one that explored not only wildlife, but the spirit, history, folklore, and soul of Africa itself.

The result is EDEN – SOUL OF AFRICA, a landmark photographic project and luxury coffee-table book that captures some of the continent’s most remarkable wild places. Accompanied by a short film and collector’s editions, it represents Rhulani’s most ambitious storytelling project to date.

Ongoing Conservation Projects

Our work continues through a growing portfolio of conservation and documentary initiatives, including wildlife relocations, predator-focused stories, conservation management projects, and long-form natural history productions.

These projects allow us to shine a light on the challenges facing Africa’s wildlife while celebrating the people and places working tirelessly to protect it.

Meet the Founder

Armand Grobler

Wildlife Photographer • Filmmaker • Author • Safari Guide

Armand Grobler is the founder and director of Rhulani Photo and Film, a professional wildlife photographer, filmmaker, published author, and passionate advocate for conservation.

His work has received international recognition and has appeared in publications, exhibitions, competitions, and conservation projects across the globe. His photography has been featured in the prestigious Remembering Wildlife series, showcased through major media outlets, and recognised in some of the world’s leading wildlife photography competitions.

In 2021, Armand became the youngest published author at HPH Publishing with the release of PHOTO SAFARI – KRUGER. His second major work, EDEN – SOUL OF AFRICA, further establishes his reputation as a storyteller dedicated to documenting Africa’s disappearing wilderness.

Born in South Africa and raised in Australia, Armand eventually returned to Africa to pursue the passion that had inspired him since childhood. Today, he spends much of the year working in remote wilderness areas, leading photographic safaris, publishing quality books, producing wildlife films, and documenting the continent’s extraordinary natural heritage.

His mission remains simple: to inspire people to see Africa differently – not merely as a destination, but as one of the world’s last great wild places worth protecting.
