Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Maun

Your adventure begins in Botswana’s safari capital, Maun, where you’ll meet the rest of the group before settling into comfortable accommodation for the evening.

This relaxed first night allows everyone to recover from international travel, discuss the exciting days ahead, and prepare equipment before our early departure into Chobe National Park the following morning to our exclusive camp in Savuti.

Days 2–5

Savuti – The Land of Giants

Few places in Africa carry the legendary status of Savuti.

Located within the western reaches of Chobe National Park, Savuti is famous for its raw wilderness, remarkable predator interactions, and constantly changing landscapes. Unlike the lush wetlands found elsewhere in northern Botswana, Savuti presents a harsher environment of open grasslands, ancient marshes, camel thorn woodlands, rocky outcrops and permanent water holes that create an entirely different photographic experience.

This region has earned worldwide recognition through numerous wildlife documentaries, largely due to its extraordinary lion prides renowned for hunting elephants – one of the most remarkable predator-prey interactions ever documented. While these hunts are never guaranteed, Savuti consistently delivers exceptional predator sightings including lions, leopards, African wild dogs and spotted hyenas.

Elephants also dominate the landscape, moving through the ancient Savuti Marsh in impressive numbers, while giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, kudu, impala and numerous other plains game provide endless photographic opportunities.

Savuti’s ever-changing light transforms the landscape throughout the day. Golden morning rays illuminate the open plains, while dramatic sunsets paint the dusty horizon in deep oranges and reds, creating spectacular conditions for wildlife photography.

With four full nights dedicated to exploring this remarkable ecosystem, you’ll have ample opportunity to experience different areas, varying light conditions and the unpredictable nature that makes Savuti one of Africa’s finest wildlife destinations.

Days 6–9

The Chobe Riverfront

From Savuti we travel north towards the popular Chobe Riverfront, one of Africa’s most productive wildlife areas. The Chobe River is a ‘must-do’ for any wildlife enthusiasts as there are endless photo opportunities with mammals, birds and spectacular landscapes.

The Chobe River forms a permanent water source that attracts extraordinary concentrations of wildlife throughout the year. During the dry season especially, thousands of elephants gather along the riverbanks, creating one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on Earth. Watching these giants interact, drink, swim and cross the river provides endless photographic possibilities.

The riverfront also supports impressive numbers of buffalo, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, sable antelope, waterbuck and countless other species. Predators regularly patrol the floodplains, while fish eagles call overhead and colourful kingfishers, bee-eaters, herons and storks make the area a paradise for bird photographers.

Unlike traditional game drives alone, the Chobe River offers a unique photographic perspective from the water itself.

On your final afternoon, you’ll enjoy a dedicated photographic boat cruise, allowing eye-level images of elephants drinking along the shoreline, crocodiles basking on sandbanks, pods of hippos, vibrant birdlife and unforgettable African sunsets reflected across the river. Photographing wildlife from the water provides intimate compositions and angles simply impossible to achieve from a vehicle.

Combined with daily game drives, the river cruise ensures an incredibly diverse photographic portfolio by the end of the safari.
